We are Opening June 1st! Important Message from Dr. Tom on Cosmetic Patient COVID Safety Responsibilities. Read More

A common concern for women following childbirth is how to reclaim one’s lost lower abdominal contour without a tummy tuck.  The following question was presented to me through the KZST/KJZY Cosmetic Info Line.

KZST/KJZY Cosmetic Info Line: Lower tummy after pregnancy (6 years ago) – what can I do?

_________, we have many patients who have developed an increase in fat and looseness of s following childbirth.  Because most such women are reluctant to undergo a traditional “tummy tuck” they have looked for an alternative minimally invasive treatment.

We offer SmartLipo laser body sculpting.  Under local anesthesia we can reduce the fat present in your lower abdomen and tighten the skin with a small laser fiber introduced under the skin followed by gentle suctioning of liquefied fat.   Our web link is: http://laserandvein.com/smartlipo.php and a detailed video of the technique is located at: http://laserandvein.com/mediacenter.php?lf=1#LipoForm.

The recovery is much quicker than traditional tummy tuck or liposuction under general anesthesia.

If laxity of the skin is more pronounced; then one can add Thermage radiofrequency treatment to the skin for further tightening.  Over a two to six month period of time the skin will continue to tighten.  The Thermage treatment has no down time whatsoever.  An example of Thermage skin tightening of the abdominal skin is located at the bottom of the link: http://laserandvein.com/thermage.php

These techniques allow for a quicker recovery with less discomfort.  Our consultations are complementary and educational.  Our laser liposuction liaison is Patty.   She would be happy to discuss further whether you are an appropriate candidate for SmartLipo.  Her contact information is (707) 542-8346 ext 305.  Her email address is pattyt@laserandvein.com.

We look forward to meeting you soon in our new Santa Rosa office location as of October 1, 2010.

 All the best,

Walter Tom
